Description

The GPALA Legacy Advisory Board Presents:
A Group for All Seasons: Success and Failures in Group Therapy

Seasoned therapists share ALL about group psychotherapy at this event. Come share in many years of rich group experiences. Audience questions and comments are encouraged.

More about the event:
Issues about how to start and maintain a group will be explored. Terminating a group will be discussed at this event as well as how some separations can also be experienced as termination. Additional topics about how to deal with a co-therapist of your choice and not of your choice, and how to deal with the difficult patient will be presented and open for discussion. In addition, a presentation will explore ways of dealing with a complex and ‘un-natural mix’ of membership.
This event is open to GPALA Members and Non-Members at a cost of $15.
3 CEUs will be offered FREE to Members and at an additional cost of $15 for Non-Members
Space is limited to 18 people
RSVP early!

Learning Objectives: After the event the Attendee will be able to:

  1. List steps in preparing and beginning a group.
  2. Identify issues in maintaining a group.
  3. Assess and create interventions to address issues of terminations of group members and possibly the group itself.
  4. Discuss and demonstrate therapeutic interventions to work with a "difficult co-therapist" and the "difficult patient."
  5. Discuss working with complex and diverse group membership composition.
  6. Develop techniques for teaching inpatient group therapy to psychiatric residents in a psychiatric hospital.
We look forward to seeing you there!
